What kind of designs do you do?

I offer these Web, Internet, and Print services:

  • Website development. Creation of new sites and makeovers of existing sites. All sites are designed to conform to Web Standards. This means that they’ll download and display quickly, work in all the major browsers, and be easy to update and maintain.
  • Analysis of existing websites. The analysis covers written copy, layout, graphics, download speed, navigation, calls to action, and comparison to competitors’ sites.
  • E-commerce. Shopping cart setup, product database creation, preparation of product images.
  • Blogs. Setup using major blog hosting services like Blogger and Typepad, or on your own website.
  • Multimedia. Web-enabled audio, video, slideshows, other animations.
  • E-mail newsletter design and distribution.

All of my websites are designed so that you don’t have to call me to do routine updates and maintenance. I set things up so that you can perform these tasks yourself. All you’ll need is your browser.

I also offer these print design services:

  • Advertisements
  • Logos
  • Stationery systems, which include letterhead, business cards, envelopes
  • Posters, brochures, flyers, and other promotional materials
  • Postcards and other direct mail pieces

How much do you charge?

For design projects, I work on a per-project basis, rather than an hourly rate. My fees are based on the size, complexity, and time line of the project.

In other words, the larger and more complex the project, the higher the fee. Web and graphic design projects requiring fast turnaround will be subject to rush charges. These charges will vary with the speed of the requested turnaround.

What kind of business relationship will we have?

I will serve you as an independent contractor on an as-needed basis. During our work together, I will be dealing directly with you, and only with you. This will avoid the "multiple inputs from multiple people" problem that arises when dealing with committees.

How do I pay you?

Payment terms are negotiated at the beginning of each project. As a general rule, I require a 50% deposit before work begins on a design project, with the final 50% due within 30 days.

I accept payments by check, money order, or credit card through the SummitDesigns.tv website.

How long have you been in business?

I started graphic & web design in 1998.

Do we need a face to face meeting?

No, not at all. Phone and email contact are fine.

How long does it take to design a website?

If you have all the information you need for your website ready, we can usually produce an average site in a week.

What do you need from me to design my website?

1. We will need to know how many pages need (home, inspiration, gallery, contact etc.)
2. We will ask you if you have any existing artwork that you want to use (logos)
3. We will need content for your website - in other words the text you want to use and the image files for your gallery (preferable in electronic format).

Will I be able to update my website myself?

We will design your site so that you can update it yourself, we ENCOURAGE you too.  Updating your website with our system is as easy as editing a document in Microsoft Word.  Other companies will try to build you a site that ONLY a paid professional can edit (don't believe what other web design companies say, YOU don't have to pay to edit your own site). Allowing us to build you a fully customizable site is a more cost effective solution.

I am not very good at writing - can you write the content of my website for me?

Yes, although there would be an extra charge for this copy writing service.

I already have a website. Can you change it for me?

We can copy your information from another website into our Content Management System so that you can have full access to editing your material.

Why should I ask SummitDesigns.tv to design my website for me?

1. We are specialized in designing websites for all types of businesses, non-profits & individuals.
2. All the feedback we get from existing clients is very positive – our sites are admired for their apparent simplicity but powerful web presence.
2. We are a small company, so you get a very personal service which is friendly and patient.
2. Our prices are very competitive.
3. All our websites follow the principles of excellent website design - and they look good too.

What are your principles of good web design?

- Simple navigation systems (our websites are easy to use)
- Minimal use of background images (the art and content should do the taking, not the website design)
- Quick to appear (no annoying flash animations that take for ever to download and add nothing to the visitor experience)
- Easy to read text fonts
- Excellent graphic design (ensuring a positive impression)
- Our sites are Smart Phone Friendly!
